Welcome to School Health Services.
Our school district has two nurses available daily for all of the schools in our district. Some of the health services mandated by Colorado State Law require that the school nurse:
1. Identify students with health needs in the school setting
2. Delegate to, train and supervise unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP)
3. Provide health assessments for the special education programs, 504 Accommodation plans and child find activities
4. Develop and implement Individual Health Care Plans for students with health care needs in the school setting
5. Prevent epidemics and the spread of disease - See Immunization Information
6. Provide Hearing and Vision screens
7. Provide first aid for illness and injury needs at school
8. Provide for the administration of medications and treatments at school
9. Promote healthy behavior
10. Monitor safety, environmental and emergency concerns
You will be asked to fill out a Health Questionnaire form for your child yearly. This information is shared only with appropriate school personnel and will assist the school nurse to provide the best possible care for your child. Confidentiality is maintained and information sharing will be restricted at your request. If there is a change in your child’s health during the year, such as a new diagnosis or health need, please inform the school nurse as soon as possible.
